Dear Editor:
I strongly recommend the NFL to reconsider its decision to hold the 2027 NFL draft in the U.S. capital city, Washington, D.C. Hopefully it’s not too late,
Donald Trump, the president of the United States of America, reigns as the sitting monarch of Washington, D.C.
Given Trump’s past and ongoing antics in every area of American life, he will reign over every aspect of the 2027 NFL Draft that will be closely followed around the world.
Trump will demand to select the location of all draft activities in D.C. He will demand a seat on all Draft committees. Trump will demand final say so on what collegiate players get chosen by what teams. He will brag about that to the worldwide news media. That’s just for starters. Donald Trump is prime time.
This is in the context of Trump’s present disputes with the NFL. He wants the NFL’s Washington Commanders to change their name back to the Washington Redskins. That kind of carrying-on was and remains vintage Donald Trump.
Surprisingly, perhaps, Donald Trump did not invade the 2026 NFL Draft in Pittsburgh. Did he decide at the very last minute to hold off until 2027 and give himself more time to show himself?
I claim very, very little knowledge of the NFL Draft or any aspects of U.S. professional sports. Donald Trump’s “behavior” during his time in the Oval Office is the logical basis of my recommendation and my speculation.
Thank You.
