The New Pittsburgh Courier has learned that The Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh announced the appointment of several new members to its Board of Directors, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to advancing economic empowerment, educational equity, workforce development, and social justice throughout the region.
Joining the Board are:
Samantha Hartzman, Chief Impact and Engagement Officer, Duquesne Light Company
Robert Hobson, Financial Advisor, UBS
Katharine Kelleman, Chief Executive Officer, Pittsburgh Regional Transit
Eris Symms, Chief Information Security Officer, United States Steel Corporation.
“These accomplished leaders bring a wealth of experience, insight, and passion for community impact,” said Jennifer Thompkins, President and CEO of the Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh. “Their expertise will strengthen our ability to serve individuals and families across the region while advancing equitable opportunities for all.”
The newly appointed board members represent a diverse cross-section of industries and civic leadership, including transportation, energy, technology and finance. Their collective experience will support the Urban League’s strategic priorities and ongoing initiatives focused on economic mobility, housing, youth development, and advocacy.

The Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh has served the region for more than 100 years, working to empower African Americans and underserved communities through education, employment, housing, health, and advocacy programs.
