WILKINSBURG BOROUGH

The Borough of Wilkinsburg is seeking an experienced law enforcement leader with a proven record of professionalism, integrity, sound judgment, and a commitment to public safety to serve as its next Chief of Police.

About the Community

Located just 7 miles outside of Downtown Pittsburgh, the Wilkinsburg community offers welcoming residential neighborhoods just minutes from the one of the country’s most thriving and most livable cities. The Borough operates under a Home Rule Charter, with a strong Mayor form of government. Borough Council is comprised of nine members elected at-large, as well as a voting Mayor. The department, under the supervision of the Mayor, responds to calls within and patrols the 2.25 square mile area, with over 14,000 residents, 24/7. The department also maintains cooperative partnerships with the Wilkinsburg School District and local healthcare institutions.

Responsibilities

· Provide leadership under the supervision of the Mayor for all de­partment operations, personnel, fleet/equipment, and facilities.

· Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, MPOETC standards, and departmental policies.

· Serve as a visible and accessible leader, building positive relationships with residents, business owners, township staff, and regional partners.

· Advise the Borough Manager and provide periodic reports on public safety matters and ensure the department’s operations align with organizational goals and community expectations.

· Be willing to attend municipal meetings, as needed.

Qualifications

· Current Pennsylvania MPOETC (Act 120) Certification

· Current or equivalent rank of Sergeant, Lieutenant, or higher

· Progressive supervisory and command experience in law enforcement

· Strong administrative, leadership, organizational, and communication skills

· Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License

TRANSIT POLICE OFFICERS

Pittsburgh Regional Transit (Port Authority of Allegheny County PoliceDepartment) is seeking full-time Transit Police Officers. A Transit Police Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety of Port Authority customers, staff, and property throughout the areas it serves. Officers must enforce all local, state, and federal laws on and around our transit system.

Transit Police Officer Salary Progression:

Year one – $74,974.41 (75% rate)

Year two – $84,971.00 (85% rate)

Year three – $99,965.88 (100% Base rate)

Master Patrol $102,964.86

(9+ Years / 3% above base)
