INTERN ($16 PER HOUR)
Pittsburgh Regional Transit is seeking a Service Development Intern to support the Port Authority of Allegheny County d/b/a Pittsburgh Regional Transit (PRT) short- and medium-term transit planning activities, including the Bus Line Redesign project, case study, and peer agency research, annual reporting requirements, and cross-agency collaboration within Pittsburgh Regional Transit’s Planning & Service Development Department. Intern positions at PRT are seasonal positions and will be limited to a maximum of 16 weeks of employment, with a cap of 29.5 hours per week. Additionally, this position is fully in-person at PRT’s Downtown administrative offices, along with some field work across PRT’s service area.
Essential Functions:
• Supports regular service planning activities:
• Drafts and reviews portions of PRT’s Annual Service Report.
• Drafts and reviews PRT’s Service Standards.
• Attends meetings with other teams at PRT and support cross-team research and collaboration efforts.
• Evaluates existing route performance relative to service standards.
Job requirements include:
• Recently graduated or currently pursuing a four-year degree in planning, urban studies, information sciences, public policy, engineering, or a related field of study.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with group projects and ability to work collaboratively.
• Ability to conduct thorough and organized research.
• Familiarity with qualitative and quantitative research methods.
• Experience with ArcGIS Pro or other Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software for geospatial analysis and published cartographic products.
• Demonstrated ability in the use of Microsoft Windows, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
• Experience with Microsoft Outlook.
Preferred attributes:

step grievance hearings for section grievances submitted. Implements and monitors programs developed by PRT and the Railcar Maintenance Management Team to improve maintenance related issues including safety, attendance, reduction of road, equipment, and parts failures. adherence to same.

• Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in fleet maintenance supervisory experience. No certifications or licenses required.
• Demonstrated ability in Windows and Microsoft Word.
• Effective and professional
communication and organizational skills.
Preferred attributes:
• Participative leadership style.
• Experience in statistical process control.
• Bachelor’s degree in business, transportation or a related technical field from an accredited school.
• Supervisory experience in Railcar Maintenance.
