Let me be clear from the beginning. There are no sexual connotations to this commentary. Merriam Webster also has this definition for rape: “An outrageous violation.” In plain words, this commentary is about our country and the American people getting poorer while Donald John Trump, his family, and his cronies get richer.
Trump talks about the inability to maintain Social Security and Medicare for the elderly; Medicaid for low-income adults, children and seniors and people with disabilities; and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) for families under the poverty level. Now we know why.
Trump is spending our tax dollars on himself and his desires.
On April 1 of this year at a private Easter luncheon, Trump stated, “It’s not possible for us to take care of daycare, Medicaid, Medicare, all these individual things… You can’t do it on a federal {basis}. We have to take care of one thing: military protection…” further stating that the states should pay for these programs while the federal government prioritizes military spending.
In fact, Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill” cut funding for both SNAP and Medicaid. However, after stating that the federal government has no money to spend on taking care of American children or health care for our poor, disabled, or seniors, Trump asked Congress for additional funding, ranging between $400 million and $1 billion, for White House “security enhancements” including a military bunker and the ballroom that he said would be funded entirely by private funds.
Trump doesn’t think that the health of the American people is as important as gilding statues for $5.1 million or renovating the Lincoln Memorial reflecting pool at a cost of $16 million, or building his 250-foot “triumphal arch” near Arlington National Cemetery for $100 million.
The U.S. House Committee on Oversight tracks the money that Trump and his family have arguably secured from digital schemes, foreign payments, and corporate interests amounting to $2.25 billion and, according to media accounts, if all illiquid digital assets are included, the number could be closer to $10 billion.
Meanwhile Fox Business reports that the federal budget deficit for 2026 through the first nine months of the fiscal year was $1.373 trillion. The cost of Trump’s golden ballroom which is up to $600 million is now predicted to be borne in half by the American people.
The gifted Qatar plane is predicted to cost the American people about $400 million for security retrofitting, and Trump’s golf-related travel, by media reports, has cost the American people $101.2 million already.
Totaling direct military spending and the economic and consumer burden, some economists have estimated that Trump’s Iran war (which Trump has predicted to be over or almost over dozens of times) has cost the American people approximately $150 billion or $1,100 per household.
Mr. Trump, you are using our tax dollars like they are in your own personal piggy bank.
Perhaps Mr. Trump, you should read the Preamble to the United States Constitution which states that “We the People” ordained and established the Constitution to “establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity.”
Nowhere in the Constitution does it state that the purpose is to enrich the President and his family, surround the President with gilded ballrooms and statues, or build arches to glorify him.
After you read the Preamble, Mr. Trump, then read Article II which outlines the executive powers. You have overstepped the articulated powers. Finally, Mr. Trump, read the Tenth Amendment which states, “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States, respectively, or to the people.” Mr. Trump, stop raping our country.
