Dear Editor:
In celebrating America’s 250th birthday this past weekend, I look back in amazement at how patriotic African Americans have been throughout our history. From the Revolutionary War to WWII to present day. From slavery to Jim Crow, racial injustice, fighting for civil rights, to present day when some are trying to take away the accomplishments that have been made.
African Americans continue to fight for their place in America—their country. They fight to defend their country, to improve the country, for all people. They understand better than many others what it really means to be free.
After all of what this country has done to them, African Americans love America, and I admire, and thank them, for all they have done for America.
