In January 2016, Candidate Trump announced in Iowa, “I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody, and I wouldn’t lose any voters. OK? It’s like, incredible.” Today, he could add the following quotes: “I can do whatever I want by executive order or otherwise, and Congress won’t do anything. It’s like, incredible.” Or, “I can run a corrupt government and steal money from the American people and Congress won’t do anything. It’s like, incredible.” Or, “I can trample the Constitution and take over elections, and the American people will let me. It’s like, incredible.”
Let me be clear—no president, whatever the political party, has limitless power. But please understand that Donald John Trump believes that there are no limits to his power. In fact, in December 2025, Susie Wiles, Trump’s Chief of Staff, said that Donald Trump believes that there is nothing he cannot do as president. Trump, himself, said as much in a New York Times interview when asked if there were limits to his global powers. “Yeah, there is one thing. My own morality. My own mind. It’s the only thing that can stop me.” Well, we have seen Trump’s morality and mind in action, and we all know that it is time for the people to exercise their vote at the ballot box and stop him from murdering our democratic republic.

Congress has failed the American people. They are our representatives and our voice. That voice has been silent. Congress must be reminded that they are our representatives and, therefore, are accountable to us; that is, “We, The People.” In 1814, Thomas Jefferson said, “If our government ever fails, it will be from this weakness. No government can be ever maintained without the principle of fear as well as of duty. Good men will obey the last, but bad ones the former only.” It is time for the American people to instill the fear of losing their positions into those Congresspeople who do not do their duty. Under the Constitution, only Congress has the power to declare war; they gave it to Trump. Under the Constitution, Congress has the power of the purse; they gave it to Trump. Under the Constitution, the states hold the power over elections and Congress has failed to stand up to Trump as he tries to take over our elections.
We have all heard the saying, “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” It is time for those of us who know right from wrong; who have a sense of morality; who know that our nation is going in the wrong direction; and who see our greatness fading to do something. A little over a decade ago during a victory speech in Nevada, Trump spoke about the groups of people who had supported him. He listed several groups and then said, “We won with the highly educated. We won with the poorly educated—I love the poorly educated.” Mr. Trump, even those in the United States who are poorly educated are not stupid.
The people of the United States do not believe that the 2020 election was fraudulent because you lost, but the 2024 election was legitimate because you won. Our election system is safe and trustworthy and we, the people, can limit runaway executive power. Therefore, People of the United States, it is time to raise our voices. VOTE.
