Bill Neal: Our sports radio show is back! Tuesdays, 6 to 8 p.m.!

:10—Truth be told you’ve been waiting… I dare say hoping, Steelers Quarterback Mitch Trubisky screws up. Yes you have… Oh please, stop it, yes you have. You don’t want to say it out loud because your chances of getting in the pearly gates are already hanging by a thread. You either want him to screw up or get a little hurt. Not a lot hurt, just a little hurt in case we need him again. Didn’t happen, huh? That’s the proverbial between a rock and a hard place which is firmly in place now.

:09—Truth be further told, I am not sure the Steeler coaching staff isn’t there… I mean between the rock and the hard place. #1 – They brought Trubisky in to be the bridge between Big Ben and Kenny Pickett, so they really have to honor their word given that he hasn’t screwed up or got hurt. #2 – They, we, you, me, us … Didn’t count on Pickett being this good this fast. #3 – They can’t, or should I say, they shouldn’t leave Mason Rudolph just hanging in the wind. They should, could, ought to do right by him and trade him so he can have a chance to play somewhere else because as soon as Pickett is ready there is no choice… I am just saying.

:08—First team, second team or third team, it doesn’t seem to matter much. What the heck is the problem with the D-Line stopping the run? C’mon man!

:07—All that being said, a win is a win is a win and your Pittsburgh Steelers were 3-0 in the preseason and trust me, that counts and it matters. As I’ve said to you several times before, the Emperor Chuck Noll was very matter of fact about preseason games, and I quote—“If they weren’t important they wouldn’t play them.”

:06—Speaking of playing games… Hey Pittsburgh Pirates, would you please just stop, just stop! ‘nuff said.

:05—BTW, you need to know what’s up, so here’s what’s up. “The Boys are back in town” aka—yours truly and my on-air partner Kevin Cameron are back on-air, so you will always know what’s up, when, where and why in the world of sports. Tune in to “Soul Take—Champions Live” Sports Talk Show every Tuesday, 6 to 8 p.m., streaming live at https://www.pghdsn.com.

:04—About Serena Williams—This is real easy, boys and girls. The woman can’t play forever and as you know, time waits for no man or woman and at last count, Father Time is still undefeated! And of course we all want her to get #24 and dare I say #25… But it ain’t gonna happen. However she and Venus just might have one final run and pull out a doubles victory at the U.S. Open. A few nights ago on Monday, Aug. 29, she defeated her first-round opponent in front of a sold-out Arthur Ashe Stadium and the crowd went crazy! There was basically a tribute to Williams after the match. She currently has 23 grand slam singles titles.

:03—So you want to know why you see me parading around times in my Terry Bradshaw throwback game shirt? ‘Cause I’ll take him 24/7, 365 over everybody else when it’s sure ‘nuff showtime and that includes Brady, Montana and Manning. I am not talking about the Bradshaw you see on TV commercials, I am talking about T.B. that called his own plays, won 4 rings and back-to-back Super Bowl MVPs. Yeah, I said it and you know where to find me … (412) – 628 – 4856!!!

:02—Just a note for a real sidebar here…How about a standing ovation for the great Denzel Washington for coming to Pittsburgh and giving of himself for the August Wilson House project. Trust me, that level of generosity doesn’t happen every day and this just in… He’s a 2-time Oscar winner and the greatest actor of our time!!!

:01—Look—This just in —the COVID is gone… for the most part… and we’re back!!! Saturday, Sept. 24, 2022, the return of the 48th Annual Armon “The Hammer” Gilliam and Leroy “Free” Freeman Hard Work Basketball Camp for the Top 100 High School boys in Western Pa. More information will be coming soon so stay on top of your New Pittsburgh Courier. :00—GAME OVER.
