Proving yet again that she is the superstar amongst superstars, Beyoncé just made a big investment into future HBCU graduates with a $25,000 grant through her BeyGOOD Foundation for Camp HBCYouth.
The summer program gives an introductory course to elementary school children who are already on the path towards attending historically Black colleges and universities.

According to AFROTECH, Camp HBCYouth has partnerships with Spelman College, Tennessee State University, Morehouse College, Clark Atlanta University and Morgan State University, with plans for expansion into Texas Southern University as well. Founders Reagan Fresnel and Brian Wright, both HBCU alums themselves, serve roughly 2,000 elementary school students from kindergarten through fifth grade in the seven-week summer program. Fresnel personally thanked Beyoncé and BeyGOOD in the announcement on social media (seen above), stating, “To Mrs. Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, Ms. Tina Knowles & The BeyGOOD Family. Thank you! Your grant helps us put more children on HBCU campuses, hire more HBCU students, and keep camp within reach for the families who need it most.”
“Through an engaging blend of education, wellness, arts, and sports, Camp HBCYouth creates meaningful experiences that nurture creativity, encourage personal growth, and introduce students to the possibilities of higher education,” writes BeyGOOD, which also shared an impressive stat that 95% of campers show a strong interest in going to a HBCU. The curriculum puts a general focus on literacy, reading comprehension, critical thinking, problem-solving and even STEAM education.
For those interested in getting their young ones in the program, early enrollment for Camp HBCYouth will begin starting Nov. 9. It’s never too early to get in formation!
