The Women’s National Basketball Association has opened up an investigation after two of its stars, Brittney Griner and Glory Johnson, were arrested for a bloodied and violent altercation at Griner’s home.
Griner and Johnson are engaged to be married but have been undergoing serious relationship problems in recent weeks, the media has reported.
The verbal altercation yesterday turned violent between Griner and Johnson at Griner’s Phoenix home (Griner plays for the Phoenix Mercury and just came off winning the 2014 WNBA title).
According to tmz.com, the couple were arguing when Griner admittedly threw a glass bowl at the wall and all hell broke loose. Friends were at the home and tried to break up the fight but felt compelled to call the police to prevent them from hurting each other seriously.
When officers arrived on the scene, both Griner and johnson had signs of a fighton their arms and faces in the form of scratches and bite marks, so both were hauled off to jail on domestic violence charges. Both parties posted bail not too long after.
Griner and Johnson are sscheduled to get married nexth month in Phoenix, but no word yet if the wedding has ben called off.
