The BOOM After Brunch Day Party Series started in Pittsburgh on July 4 at BOOM Concepts, located at 5139 Penn Ave., and has been happening every Saturday from 2-6 p.m. It is presented by Lola Sims Public Relations, RE: Innovating, and Joi Price.
“It’s a day party for a diverse group of successful creatives and entrepreneurs,” Sims said.
Since BOOM’s initial start to this Day Party extravaganza, people from all sections of the city have come to support the BOOM After Brunch experience.
BOOM came about to create a new environment for those to gather, and celebrate the many talented artists that are in the city. The day party is transformed into an art exhibit, with wine, music, and food. The phrase, starving artists, will exist no more after becoming a BOOMer at the BOOM After Brunch event. Start up businesses, solo entrepreneurs, and artists who have decided to capitalize by displaying their skill and creativity to the city.
BOOM After Brunch is an exhilarating, eye-popping, midday good time, celebrating those who are evolutionary. Every Saturday, different artists are featured while artistic pieces are displayed throughout the event. Julie Mallis and Makayla Wray are two local artists who have been featured at BOOM and displayed an art exhibition during the event.
“The talent I have seen at these events is hair-raising and overpowering. Its refreshing to see events like this happening in the city,” Rayah Lewis said.
During August, the event will be sponsored by Sprout Fund. The day party series was previously sponsored by Zip Car. Gift bags are provided by Penn Avenue Eye Wear and I Heart Kisses to event attendees.
“Boom After Brunch was designed to create a different element in the city of Pittsburgh. Too often Blacks gather for funerals or other non-productive affairs. Its time that we start to display what talents and skills we hold, and connect to better and support one another. There are countless Black artists here within our city, and we are shedding light on them in support of their talent,” Sims said.
The Day Party Series will be taking place until the end of August and is open to every one of all ages and background.
