John Legend, Tyrese, Tichina Arnold headline 1st annual ‘Triumph Awards’

ATLANTA — Civil rights legend Rev. Joseph E. Lowry along with music stars John Legend and Tyrese Gibson headline the inaugural Triumph Awards, a program that honors greats for their contributions to the community.

Multifaceted comedic actress Tichina Arnold (“Martin,” “Everybody Hates Chris,” “Survivor’s Remorse”) will serve as the mistress of ceremonies that will also pay homage to comedic great Wanda Sykes and corporate executive Rosalind Hudnell in the first-ever awards show that will be filmed Saturday night in Atlanta.

Tyrese Gibson, Jazmine Sullivan, Ledisi, Estelle and Tasha Cobbs and among the performers on this special evening in downtown Atlanta.

The premise of the show, created by TV One in their collaboration with Rev. Al Sharpton’s National Action Network, will recognize each individual for their positive impact on society by utilizing their talents and resources to help those within under-resourced communities.

The program is scheduled to air on TV One in October.
