Ava DuVernay stuns for ELLE’s November 2015 issue

ava duvernayNovember 2015’s Women in Hollywood issue for ELLE Magazine features the stunning directress Ava DuVernay.
It’s about time that this half woman, half amazing beauty get the props she so rightfully deserves in Tinseltown.
While many didn’t even know who she was a few years ago, her Oscar nominated civil rights film SELMA put DuVernay on the map, giving fans the itch to know just who the woman is behind the monumental film.
Born and raised in Compton, CA, DuVernay is the first black female director to receive a nomination for a Golden Globe Award. This November, she is gracing one of eight ELLE magazine covers featuring Women in Hollywood. And, she looks effortlessly gorgeous in a silk white Calvin Klein dress and Balmain jewels.
In the most recent issue, the directress discusses her documentary chronicling tennis champion Venus Williams’ fight for equal pay and her critically acclaimed film SELMA.
Here are a few highlights:

On her film, Venus vs. Venus: “It was fascinating to really explore Venus Williams as the first of her kind, the first to break down the wall—so young, so graceful, so gracious, so at the top of her game.”
On the process of creating the Oscar winning Selma: “It was important to me when I took over the film and rewrote the script that there were those silences and spaces where these icons are being people.”
Selma star and rapper Common on working with DuVernay: “[She] created an environment where we felt like we were doing something with a higher purpose.”

Ava’s highly anticipated interview hits stands on October 20th.
