McDonald’s to offer bigger, saucier Big Mac

PITTSBURGH, PA (January 17, 2024)…One of America’s favorite burgers is expected to get bigger (and saucier!) at the end of the month. The Double Big Mac will be available at participating McDonald’s restaurants nationwide for a limited time starting Jan. 24.

The burger is twice the glory of McDonald’s classic sandwich — There’s four 100% all-beef patties and more Big Mac sauce. It’s topped with pickles, crisp shredded lettuce, finely chopped onions, and a slice of American cheese – and all that heft is sandwiched within a fluffy sesame seed bun.

News of the Double Big Mac’s return comes on the heels of McDonald’s tweaks to four of its classic burgers:  The hamburger, cheeseburger, double cheeseburger, McDouble and Big Mac. The changes include softer buns, adjusted grill settings for a better sear, caramelized onions cooked directly on top of the patties, and meltier cheese.

About The Big Mac

The Big Mac was invented in Western PA by McDonald’s franchisee Jim Delligatti. In 1967, he began test-marketing the seven-ingredient sandwich at his restaurant in Uniontown. Customer response was so good, he soon introduced the sandwich at three more of his restaurants in Pittsburgh.  It debuted nationally in 1968. The sandwich is now sold in 100+ countries around the world.
